CEM SAĞBİL 1958 Born in the town of Kandilli, Zonguldak, on the Black Sea coast.
1970–76 Attended high school in Ankara.
1976–79 Studied interior decoration and industrial design at the Fine Arts Academy in Istanbul.
1979 Went to Stuttgart, Germany.
1981 Began studies in ceramics and sculpture at the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts.
1982 Opened his first studio on Kernerstrasse in Stuttgart.
1982–84 Attended courses in architecture, and the construction of a mudbrick building in Cyprus which employed the traditional dome construction methods of architect Hassan Fathy.
1988 Completed his studies at the Stuttgart Academy of Fine Arts under Prof. G. Spanulo.
1991 In addition to çini- Turkish glazed porcelain - and oil painting; and works in wood, ceramic, metal and other materials, he began to concentrate mainly on bronze sculpture.
1999 Established a foundry for bronze art works called ‘Bronzhane’ in Izmir.
2006–2007 Chosen ‘Artist of the Year’ by the Arts Foundation. Continued working in Izmir and İstanbul. OPEN AIR SCULPTURES Ankara, Turkey
